TL;DR
Culture Amp is a survey-first engagement platform with sales-led pricing and annual contracts. The five strongest alternatives are Lattice, 15Five, Officevibe, Workday Peakon and Hatchproof. Four of them still run on self-reported data; Hatchproof reads digital exhaust from the work itself. If you run a team under 200 and want signal before the exit interview, start there.

Why teams leave Culture Amp
Culture Amp does not publish pricing. Third-party estimates put Engage-only plans for small teams around $4,500 to $9,000 a year, mid-market bundles at $30,000 to $55,000, and everything is billed annually with no month-to-month option. That is fine at 1,000 people. At 40 it is a lot of commitment for a survey.
The deeper issue is the data. A survey tells you how people felt on the day they answered. Gallup's State of the Global Workplace 2026 puts global engagement at 20%, down from a 2022 peak of 23%, and manager engagement at 22%, down from 27% in a single year. Teams have been running engagement surveys for a decade while that number fell. The instrument is not moving the outcome.
1. Lattice
Lattice is the closest like-for-like swap if you want reviews, goals and engagement in one place. It is strong on process. It is still process: the performance picture is whatever managers and employees write down. Good fit when your problem is review admin, not visibility.
2. 15Five
15Five built its name on weekly check-ins, which makes it lighter than Culture Amp for teams under 100. The tradeoff is the same one: signal depends on people volunteering it, and the people about to leave are the ones who stop volunteering.
3. Officevibe
The budget option. Pulse surveys, anonymous feedback, almost no setup. Right if you need a basic temperature check and have no one to run a heavier program. Not built to tell you who your top performers are or who is about to walk.
4. Workday Peakon
Peakon is enterprise-grade continuous listening, priced by quote, and most valuable if you already run Workday. For CHROs at larger companies it brings serious reporting depth. For a 60-person company it is more platform than problem.
5. Hatchproof
Hatchproof starts from a different premise. Reviews, engagement surveys and manager gut were never designed to predict who is actually winning. So we read the work itself: digital exhaust from Slack, email, 1:1s and execution patterns, plus optional wearable data. Hatch, our AI agent, turns that into performance signal, flight-risk alerts and hiring intelligence, and our behavioral model scores each person on habits, aspirations, temperament, conviction and hard skills. Think of it as your leaderboard real-time. For the full approach, read our founder's guide to continuous performance management and how retention software that predicts churn works. FAQ
What is the best Culture Amp alternative for a small team?
For teams under 50, the realistic shortlist is 15Five, Officevibe and Hatchproof. 15Five and Officevibe are lightweight survey and check-in tools with low per-seat cost. Hatchproof costs more attention up front but replaces self-reported data with signal from actual work, which matters more when every single resignation hurts. Pick on the question you need answered: how does the team feel, or who is performing and who is at risk.
Is Culture Amp worth the price?
It can be, at scale. Third-party estimates run roughly $20,000 to $35,000 a year for 200 to 500 employees on Engage alone, with annual-only billing. Culture Amp earns that spend where you need survey science, benchmarks and a dedicated people team to act on results. For a lean company without an HR function, the reports often outrun the capacity to use them.
Can any of these tools predict who will quit?
Survey tools infer risk from sentiment, which lags behavior. Hatchproof looks at behavioral change in the work: shifts in communication patterns, execution cadence and 1:1 content, flagged as signal before the exit interview. No tool predicts with certainty, so treat alerts as prompts for a conversation, not verdicts.
How hard is it to migrate off Culture Amp?
CostBench rates migration difficulty as medium for the major alternatives. Historical survey data is the main loss, so export it before your contract ends. Time your switch to the renewal date, because contracts are annual.
Bottom line
If your problem is survey administration at scale, Peakon or Lattice will serve you. If your problem is not knowing who is winning and who is leaving until it is too late, no survey fixes that. Move to a tool that reads the work. Every hire bends the trajectory; your performance data should keep up.
